We’re starting a series here on CheapEats where we ask Irish bloggers to recommend their favourite good value restaurants in Ireland, and also to tell us their wish list of the kind of places they’d like to see opening in their area.

We’ll be kicking off soon with recommendations from myself and Peter; watch this space.

And if you’re an Irish blogger who loves food and would like to participate, get in touch!

One of my favourite cheap eat destinations is Sweet Basil Thai in Rathmines. The decor is quite strange. It kind of feels like an office from 80s movies such as ‘the secret of my success’ or ‘scrooged’. I dont think the peeps that set it up care about shit like that though. What they do offer is a very tasty starter and main course at any time of the day for 12.50. Soup and Curries are their speciality.

  • Jean: Unfortunately Just Off Francis closed down a few months ago; a shame, i had lunch there a couple of times and liked the food and the surroundings.
  • Sinead: If you're anti-Nestle and into saving a few quid, there's a new Irish site selling Nespresso compatible pods for around 15% less. I've tried them and
  • SJ: I second the "Just off Francis" recommendation. Lovely little place!
