Congrats on your 100th post. Have only recently started reading this blog, after it was recommended by PriceWatch, but it’s great! I really like the recipes and the Good Value / Bad Value posts. Keep up the good work!

Yay for 100, well done! I love seeing your reviews, I always feel a bit guilty eating out when the world seems to be crumbling down around us with complaints of recession so its nice to know where is good but cheap to eat. Recipes are always great too!

It would be great if you could post full posts through your feedburner! This is the way I read most blogs and means that I can have a look at work without having to have a very colourful page up!

Saw the site advertised on Midday today. Great idea in these RECESSIONARY times. Who else is sick of hearing that? But seriously great idea. Love the cheap restaurant offers. We still need to go out and enjoy ourselves just tighten the pursestrings a wee bit. Thanks guys :)

Congrats. I love the giveaways, wish there were more. I am very happy to see you on board with Fair Trade products. More info on how the average consumer can help this effort by posting more Fair Trade products and reviews would be terrific.

Hi, You guys are my kind of people, looking for great value but still trying to shop and eat ethically and sustainably. I always try to buy free range, Irish products, less packaging etc. But doing this on my budget isn’t always easy. This site is now the first I open in the morning. Thanks a million!!!

You know, I’ve never been tempted by the idea of handmade chocolates. I mean, what kind of person is at the end of those hands? Give me a nice sterile conveyor belt any day.

I do love this site though.

I only discovered CheapEats.ie after the Irish Times mentioned it, and I am loving it…it’s the only blog I’m be interested enough in to check for updates a couple of times a day! I love the Ingredient of the Week, especially seeing as spinach and chorizo are 2 of my faves anyways. Loving the recipes too, planning on trying the Saag Aloo tonight!
As a person who enjoys food shopping - but only when I nab the cheapest, healthiest and best value bargains - this site has been great! One thing I feel could add to the site would be a forum, so users can exchange information easier.

Congrats on no. 100 (already!). Love the site for its variety - posts relevant to buying food, cooking your own, eating out etc. - and the fact that it’s not about cheapness per se, but value.

I agree with Daily Spud (above). The site looks great too, I especially love the wallpaper. There’s a big difference between cheapness and value, somewhere like l’Gueuleton isn’t cheap per se, but brill value because it’s so good, so I totally agree with your reviews. I’m looking forward to using the site … but for now may I just say this: you can make a totally fantastic fish pie by using the Lidl fisherman’s selection (frozen scallops, crayfish, mussels & prawns) and following the Avoca fish pie recipe in book 1. Made it last week and it was so good I nearly wept while eating it.

Congratulations to you on a really great site.

Congratulations on reaching 100!!!!

CheapEats is already a big hit and I can see it growing - in these times consumers are more inclined to “vote with their feet” and it is important to have somewhere that highlights the good and the bad - and as Daily Spud said, not cheapness per se but value! I have found it worthwhile checking out eBay for some items - I bake a great deal for weddings, christenings etc (mainly for friends and family) and have managed to buy things like top quality icing supplies, cookie cutters and colourings for for a much lower price on eBay- I have also bought wonderful smoked paprika and organic whole vanilla pods for a fraction of what I would pay here, even taking into account the postage.

Here’s to the next few hundred posts :-)

I really love your blog and I only discovered it a week ago. I think it gives clear concise and useful information, I also love the colours and design of the pages and its v user friendly.

Keep up the good work, if only we had been so frugal during the past ten years we may not be hitting the recessionary times we are now experiencing !! Then again I did rather enjoy the C.Tiger :)

Hope I win

Ooooooh, chocolates, I’m so in for this one.

I like your reviews of the specials at supermarkets, as I have a choice of where I shop locally it can quite often influence which supermarket I tackle on a weekend.

It might be nice to have a wrap up post on a Friday, showing the best bargains for the week, I know a lot of people do their shopping at the weekend.

In other feedback, I really wish you would offer a full post RSS feed instead of just the first few lines. If I’m busy, I don’t have time to click through to every site, I prefer to use my RSS reader. Instead of generating click-thru’s to your site, you’re probably losing readers instead by not offering the full feed.

Happy 100th birthday!! May the next 100 posts be even better :) Bring em on…..
I think I must be the number 1 fan of your website ever since a friend told me about it recently. I find myself broke every weekend in this bloomin recession so on Mon am, my first task is always to check out the best “cheap eats” - where to go for the best deals/prices/recipes and how I can save €€€ !! Every night last week, I tried one of your recommended dishes and in a hungry house of teenagers, they went down a treat….will be doing the same this week for sure. My favourite is the weekly roundup which summarizes all the best offers and deals advertised during the week. I have 1 recommendation, I just hope it doesn’t sound too greedy. It would be supercool if you held a few competitions for us fans. Maybe with small little prizes like vouchers or free meals or whatever - what do you think? Just thought it would be even more encouragement for people to get blogging and reviewing and recommending!!
Anyway, I love the site just as it is. Fair play to you all and keep up the good work. Luv Emer XXX

I’ve only just come across the website quite recently but I think it’s great!I love the breakdown of all the supermarket deals,it’s great to know where to go to get good deal at the beginning of the week! The site is easy to navigate, with the sections easily laid out and some great other blogs on the blog roll.

The recipe section is great too, though maybe a section of recipes on using leftovers or cooking something once in large portions and freezing the extra portions(for all us students out there!)

I’ve recommended this site to a few people already and they’ve all loved it too!

Loving the site, guys, and well done on the success. My suggestions would be some posts on feeding kids - small bites, treats, suppers that they’ll eat but still are healthy and cheap.

And also, I thought it might be nice to have the odd special around a particular location - for example review all the eateries in one village, or all the shops - you could start with Blackrock, I ‘d be happy to help out :-)

Hey,

Congratulations and well done on the blog - I love it.

I know everyday, when I log into my Google Reader, there will be something to tickle my taste bugs waiting for me. Thank you!

The money savers and reviews are brilliant! It’s sound advice and generally impartial which can be hard to find these days.

One thing I would say is condense the number of daily posts rather than post 10 times a day. This will make the posts a less daunting read and more accessible.

But apart from that don’t change!!

Thanks again!
