Weekly Roundup for the week starting January 12th:
- We disgusted small children everywhere but delighted Popeye by choosing frozen spinach as our ingredient of the week.
- We began a new topic giving advice and practical tips on building up an inexpensive storecupboard, starting with Peter’s look at Chinese food in the Oriental Emporium. Jean checked out The Spice of Life on Moore St.
- There were offers from supermarkets SuperValu, Superquinn, Dunnes (good here and bad here), Tesco, Lidl, and M&S, and restaurants Wagamama, L’Ecrivain, and Milano.
- In food news, CheapEats was featured in The Irish Times Pricewatch column, Channel 4 screened a documentary about budget food lines, and Superquinn shed 400 jobs.
Comment of the Week
JuniorBox dried Jean’s tears and gently explained to her why she can’t have cheap Japanese food in Ireland. And then distracted her with a lollipop.
