We haven’t written much about fast food restaurants here on CheapEats, but not because of food snobbery or anything like that. I know I frequently get hankerings for Burger King and whatnot, but rarely bother cause I’m put off by the potential disappointment. It’s happened loads of times, where I think ‘feck healthy eating, I’m having a Bacon Double Cheeseburger’…and I go and order one…and the bewildered overworked 14 year old behind the counter hands me this pile of congealed grease with chips that have clearly been sitting under a heatlamp for hours. And then I get really sad.
So with that in mind, you may want to think twice before trying any of these deals, and maybe take a look at this handy guide. But some days, the hangover just won’t listen to reason and you might want to try one of the following deals…
- Burger King have a Recession Buster Menu – a double cheeseburger with a small fries and small drink for €3.50
- Supermac’s have loads of Supersaver Meals – ranging in price from €3.95 to €5.95
- McDonald’s doesn’t appear to have any special deals, but does have its Eurosaver menu: a small drink, a small milkshake, a hamburger and a sundae are all €1 and a double cheeseburger and twisty fries are €2 each.
Our reader Marie Therese also tipped us off that Spar are currently selling premade sandwiches for €1, and Centra are doing takeaway coffee for €1.

God, all those pictures of congealed burgers are strangely appealing. I guess, being trapped in the snow, it’s a case of wanting what you can’t have

According to Burger King, the recession stops at 10pm every night. This is not displayed on any of the posters or advertisements. Its a disgrace, they have no solid grounds for ending the promotion at 10pm every night.

Just to be clear, Burger King can not keep a burger under a heat lamp for more than 10 mins. There is a sequence of numbers from 1 to 12 on the wrap. imagine its a clock if the staff must trough out a burger once it reaches the marked number so if in doubt check that. But the major of burgers are made to order. So how do you like them apples?
