Prawns Pil-Pil

Posted by: peter in: Ingredient of the Week | Light Meals | Lunchtime | Recipes | Starters, Salads & Soups

food-041Prawns pil-pil is a ridiculously quick and simple starter.

Try it with your weekday dinner and feel like you’re in a fancy restaurant, or serve it up to friends as a beautiful and uncomplicated starter. Or serve it with some crusty bread for a light lunch.

This serves two as a small starter.

Ingredients

  • 8 prawns
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • Fresh black pepper

Instructions

  • Heat the oil until sizzling hot
  • Add the garlic and fry for just under a minute
  • Then add the prawns and stir for two minutes
  • Sprinkle over some fresh black pepper. Voila!

Hi guys,

I’d love to do this as a main course- what would you recommend serving with it?

Hi Aoife. Just a suggestion. If you want to have a Spanish dinner, you should start it with grilled vegetables or a simple salad. Then, for the main, just serve the prawns with good quality rice (preferably Spanish).

In Andalucía they serve this with a crisp white baguette, for mopping the oil up afterwards (yum)
