We’ve been linking to Good Mood Food here on CheapEats quite a lot, but the recipes are so delicious and the food photography so exceptional that we just can’t resist it. I was particularly tempted today when I saw a recipe for homemade Cinnamon and Raisin Bagels – one of my Favourite Things Ever.
When I lived in Australia a long time ago, there was a coffee shop near my work where we used to get our breakfast and they had the most delicious way of serving cinammon bagels, one I still recreate at home on a regular basis (although slightly less frequently now that my metabolism has slowed a little – too many of these will make you faaaat).
Ingredients
- Cinnamon and raisin bagels – buy them or use the Good Mood Food recipe
- One banana
- Cream cheese
- Honey or maple syrup
Split and toast the bagels. Spread them with the cream cheese and then add a layer of sliced banana. Drizzle over the honey or maple syrup. They go so well with coffee that it will make you want to weep with joy.

Wow I think I need to try this. Will use some of that budget priced Tesco health range extra light cream cheese to take some of the guilt away 🙂

That’s exactly what I do Frank, I use the ‘light’ cream cheese, as if that makes it a healthy snack. 🙂

I went crazy and made the bagels and everything yesterday – Good Mood Food guy certainly has a sweet tooth … will make them with less sugar the next time! Amazing with the honey and banana by the way …cheers for that
