Weekly Roundup

Posted by: peter in: Weekly Roundup

Weekly RoundupIt was a week for outdoor eating here at CheapEats, with Jean and I heading along to the Taste of Dublin Festival and the Marks and Spencer BBQ, and falling in our doors nicely fattened with food and drink.

We noticed some good offers at Fresh supermarket and in Itsa Bagel, while some sneaky and annoying practices in the food industry came under the spotlight: overcharging in restaurants, incredible shrinking portion sizes, and the lies behind “new improved flavour” all got our goat.

Jean’s exhilaration at the arrival of cheap Japanese food in Dublin was short-lived, as Kokoro’s hot dishes turned out to be too cheap, in every way. I found a nice cheap dinner at Beshoff Bros, while Maria Crispy compared €20 dinner offers in Browne’s of Sandymount and the West Cork Gourmet Store in Ballydehob.

And that’s it from us this week. Have a great weekend!
