Murphy’s Ice-cream Dublin Launch

Posted by: jean in: Food Events

Last Friday, I went along to check out the launch of the new Murphy’s Ice Cream scooping cabinet in the Powerscourt Centre.  The launch was very generously open to all comers, and I brought my lovely Italian friend Elisa along with me.  If you want to evaluate ice-cream, best to bring an Italian, I think.

There was a lovely setup for the launch – trad musicians playing while free cones, ice-cream biscuits, wine and cocktail shots were offered around.  For us, the winner was the mint chocolate icecream and the rum and banana cocktail.  It was a really nice treat on a Friday evening, and Murphys were very generous with their samples. Outside the Powerscourt Centre, two of the cutest calves you’ve ever seen were making friends with passing children.  Any chance of making it a weekly event?

:)

Yum sounds delish. I’ll definitely go and check out their icecream this weekend. We definitely have the weather for it, as if we ever needed an excuse.

The Irish eat more ice-cream per capita than the Italians, apparently.

Thanks for coming, and thanks for the pics! Don’t know about a weekly event, but it was fun and we should do more of them…

The Irish actually have the third highest ice cream consumption in the EU per capita!

Imagine if it was sunny all the time…

Seriously thou, best of luck with the recession-defying step into the big cities by Murphys. A quality operation all made with quality milk from the Kerry cow.
