A few of us headed out to Killruddery House the weekend before last, to see the very lovely Enchanted Garden outdoor exhbition. It’s a beautiful place, with huge gardens. There were loads of families there on the Sunday that we went out, but it didn’t feel overcrowded or frenetic at any stage.
We got our lunch from the very nice Garden Cafe. The Cafe itself is a small pretty round building, with all the food inside and all the seating and a barbeque outside.. The adults had a tasty Brochette of Kilruddery Lamb – a kind of shish kebab in a delicious brown roll with coriander, spices and tahini for €6.50. It wasn’t a huge sandwich, but the ingredients were top-notch.
They have good options for kids, such as a bag of sausages for €2 or a cup with vegetable crudites and hummus for €1.50, and lots of lovely things like flapjacks for 30c, strawberries and homemade lemonade. It’s a lovely cafe in a beautiful spot. It’s well worth keeping an eye on the Killruddery events calendar and making the trip out there to see an exhibition and enjoy the surroundings. Killruddery is about 20 minutes drive from Bray, Co Wicklow.
