Temple Spa Review from our Competition Winner

sineady-temple
You may remember that we gave away an amazing trip to Temple Spa back in June. Our lucky winner Sineady went along with her friend Patches, and sent us this great review of her experience there:

I’m writing to say a big thank you for the wonderful prize of the weekend break in Temple Spa, which I recently won from your site. And I thought that you might also like to hear how we get on.

I wouldn’t see myself as your typical spa guest and I got a little concerned when I realised that there was no bar in Temple, and no televisions in the rooms either. Eeek! Call me a lazy, uncultured alcoholic, but when I unwind for a weekend, two things it generally involves are telly and booze.

Well, I needn’t have worried as my friend, Patches, and I had a wonderful time.

The prize covered a standard room so we paid the €50 upgrade to get a Junior Suite, and it was well worth it: for the balcony; for the jacuzzi bath but mostly (something they don’t mention in the brochure or site) for the television. Woo hooo!

We had a massage each and spent a bit of time in the vitality suite. I had plenty of intentions of going for a walk all weekend but it never happened. Instead, we slowed down to a pace just short of catatonic and stayed there for the duration. I brought down my laptop and we had a stack of DVDs and a couple of bottles of wine to veg in our lovely suite.

The highlight of the weekend for me was the food. The prize was very generous, covering all meals – dinner Friday, three meals Saturday and two on Sunday (I almost felt greedy availing of the lunch before we left on Sunday but it was too good to turn down). I made a little montage of some photos from the weekend and you can see how gorgeous the food looks.

The pork dish, with celeriac mash, a black pudding tarte tatin, and delicious miniature apples, was one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. And the Sunday lunch of beef with Yorkshire pud was Patches’ favourite.

Both evenings they were happy to send dessert up to our room (so that we could catch Jonathan Woss on Fwiday, and just because it was a twadition by Saturday) and the staff were really lovely to us all weekend, always friendly and accommodating. The place is lovely, both building and grounds, and the atmosphere is very very chilled. I will definitely be returning for another stay.

So thank you, thank you, thank you. Keep up the great work on the blog, and keep the amazing prizes coming.

Cheers,
Sinéadey
