  1. Did you contact Tesco to say this to them,

  2. Ditto Maura, did you tell any of the staff?

  3. PS, depending on when you took the picture, the “offer” is out of date anway.

  4. Tell them yourself. CheapEats are just mentioning something they saw. I’m sure Jean has better things to do than get into fights with Tesco’s poor staff. Besides, they’re being told right here, no?

  5. They have a no quibble guarantee, if the price is different at checkout then on the item displayed you get item for free. I have saved a fortune as prices constantly wrong. Nappies mis-priced, got them free, went back a week later, still mis priced, got three packs for free! Sometimes the per kilo price does not match the item price, again, you get it for free.

  6. Same thing happened to me in Tesco when buying hot dog buns. The price for a packet of 12 was actually more expensive than 2 packets of 6, there was no staff around and I was in a hurry, no camera with me at that moment. I was lucky I noticed…

  7. Foodface, I wasnt the customer so I cant get irate on someone elses behalf now can I? And no, Tesco are not being told now, unless a link has been sent to them.

  8. Hilarious! I’ve seen a few in the shop recently. One was for fresh pasta. 1.99 each or two for a fiver!
I also saw a few “save 33%”, but the new price is 33% dearer than the old!

  9. Liana, I’ve noticed that too (and not only in Tesco): buying in bulk is not always cheaper than buying multiple separate items. I’ve also seen bigger packs being cheaper than smaller ones, how strange!

  10. Whats this about a no quible guarantee? how does it work? who does it? i so want free stuff!!

  11. Ashlinghayes, Tesco commit to refund the full value of your item if you are incorrectly charged. You just show the customer service desk your receipt, explain that the item should be half price or this and that. If you are proved right, you keep the item and pocket the money back. But be careful, they tend to only refund the difference, in which case you must mention “no quible policy”

  12. Nanzolie, thanks for that i am definitely going to keep an eye on my receipts now, i usually only check to see if the two for one offers had come through

  13. tesco constantly mislead their customers in this way and its disgraceful.

  14. this happened to me twice while online shopping. they have a special offer that does not reflect on your final receipt… in both cases they refund me.. but imagine the amount of money they pocket from ppl who shop in bulk online and dont bother to check the receipt after the delivery

  15. I snapped a “Price Cut” of €0.01 and thought that was bad:

  16. I wonder if I qualify for a VA loan? 😀

  18. spam spam spam, who needs it?

  19. In fairness, it happens to me quite as often in SuperQuinn, where I think the ladies already know me as the “trouble maker” (I always check the prices as they come up on the till) 🙂
I have hold the check out queue a couple of times and once even had to go inside myself with the supervisor to point out the mistake in their offer. There is always that look on peoples faces that say “so much hassle for 30 cents…” SuperQuinn always refund me full price but I leave feeling hot and bothered (no to say late!)

  20. I saw some thing like this as well. It was to do with the 1Lt bottles of coke.

They were on special at 2 x 1Lt bottles packaged together for €3.99 while on the shelve beside them you could buy a 1lt bottle for €1.79

    Now €1.79 + €1.79 = € 3.58 for the same 2Lt

Why in god name would anyone buy the 2Lt packaged together for €3.99 ?

  21. Sorry that should have been

special at 2 x 2Lt bottles packaged together for €3.99 while on the shelve beside them you could buy a 2lt bottle for €1.79

    Now €1.79 + €1.79 = € 3.58 for the same 4Lt

Why in god name would anyone buy the 4Lt packaged together for €3.99 ?

  22. I suppose it’s because people who are in a hurry or distracted won’t bother to tot up the unit prices, especially if the unit price is small and the ‘offer’ price is huge.

  23. Being a regular to Tesco (’cause it’s the only near my place within 15 mins walk), this is only one of the silly hiked up ‘offers’.
There’s this perpetual price difference for Tesco Medium Free Range Egg, if you buy 12X carton, it’s Eur 3.37, but when you buy 2 of the 6X cartons, it’s Eur 3.18. This has been going on for as long as I was in Ireland until 3 weeks ago, not sure if they’ve adjusted the prices.
The prices of baby spinach in the store fluctuates faster than the stock market, one day is Eur 1.24, the other day is Eur 1.40, sometimes up to Eur 2.40. Speechless!

  24. you see the way it lists different products there? i bet the other products are moreexpensive than the one the photo is taken off ie. the tesco pressed apple is 2.99 each, only seeing half the story here me thinks.

  25. Anything that raises awareness of ‘Rip-Off Ireland’ is a good thing. I really enjoy using this website; thanks!
