Aldi scooped five prizes at the recent Blas na hEireann awards. The West Cork Indulgence Lemon Curd Yogurt and the Specially Selected Irish Vintage Red Cheddar topped their respective categories, picking up Gold awards. Aldi’s Specially Selected Irish Angus Fillet Steak won a Silver award, while the Specially Selected Freshly Squeezed Valencia Orange Juice and the Specially Selected Luxury Layer Yogurt (Mixed Flavours) got Bronze. I do think Aldi’s own brands might just top Tesco, Lidl, Dunnes, Superquinn, and SuperValu’s offerings, so the recognition is probably deserved.
