Halloween Special: Homemade Fake Blood

Don't worry, it's FAKE blood

Don't worry, it's FAKE blood

The fake blood, that you can buy in shops, is usually unconvincing and leaves a heavy mark that requires such a serious cleaning job that you end up drawing actual blood when attempting to remove it.

Well, this non-toxic blood recipe will save you money and is so realistic that your friends will think you require medical attention.

Ingredients:

  • Honey syrup
  • Red food colouring
  • Flour

Instructions:

  1. Combine 1 part water with 3 parts honey syrup.
  2. Add the red food colouring and mix gently by shaking or stirring. Continue adding drops until the shade resembles that of real blood. Add a small amount of blue food colouring to achieve a more realistic shade.
  3. For the thickener – add sifted flour to your mixture, and gently mix it all again.
  4. Let the mixture sit for ten minutes in a warm environment. This will give it some time to thicken.

  1. If you want stuff that splatters well, just use what the mythbusters use. Vegetable oil and red food coloring.

  2. Excellent idea Tadgh, food colour me there!

  3. I know pictures which would otherwise be considered tasteless are acceptable at Hallowe’en, but I think your picture with the noose could be offensive.

  4. Offensive to who? Christians, or prunes?
