There’s also I used to shop in SuperValu a lot more, but there isn’t one near me. I always found ever so slightly more expensive than Dunnes or Tesco, but it was worth it. The shopping experience was more pleasant, the staff seemed to have a stake in the food and the shop, Their fruit, veg and meat were always quality, and you weren’t just supporting Musgrave’s but also the local franchisee. Finally, SuperValu are a major support for many Irish farmers.

For some reason I’m slightly resistant to trying their own branded food products. Perhaps because most Tesco, Dunnes, and Superquinn own brands haven’t appealed to me, or maybe the packaging offends me: look at the grim label on the SuperValu Sweet and Sour sauce in this family meal deal. Still, I’d like to sample some more of Supreme and SuperValu brands. Has anyone else? Are they good value for what you pay?

  1. I love the supreme range. The soups are beautiful. I have no idea about the other own brand there, I steer clear of them unless they are made by a factory I recognise.
