Christmas is nearly here, and SuperValu’s specials pass my CheapEats special offer test with flying colours: I’d go there specially to buy them:

• Whole salmon (1.5kg) – half price – now €6.49
• Roses/ Heroes/ Quality Street/ Celebrations (420g) – normal price €4.49 each – now 2 for €3
• SuperValu carrots, parsnips, brussel sprouts, melon, and pineapple – reduced from various prices to 50c each

Although SuperValu, Tesco, Dunnes and Superquinn doesn’t pretend to be cheaper than Aldi or Lidl, SuperValu’s fruit and veg offers make them real contenders this week.
