On a recent visit to Mount Usher, we popped into the Avoca Cafe. I have been to the other Avoca branches but this was by far the best.

The cafe is very cosy and intimate and the outlook is lovely. We had a really hearty vegetable soup with four large chunks of delicious seeded bread. It was served to the table, as opposed to the other branches where you have to queue and risk the food being cold by the time you get a seat.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was a very pleasant lunch. Two soups with brown bread, two teas, and two sticky toffee puddings came to €22.65.

Didn’t Mount Usher get flooded though? I saw something about it on the rte website yesterday!

  • SJ: I second the "Just off Francis" recommendation. Lovely little place!
