  1. Sweet Jesus, €11.90! That is insane. I dont think its your own fault though, the waiter should have highlighted the price considering you wouldn’t expect to pay more than €6 for a glass of wine usually.

  2. Is the Brooklodge Hotel restaurant not an organic restaurant (or is that another place I’m thinking of?) If so, maybe the wine was organic and therefore more expensive?

  3. They could very easily put up a chalk board (assuming they change their wines by the glass regularly) with prices. I think its great that you can get a ‘good’ wine by the glass but you absolutely need to know what price before you order – particularly with a product like wine that can differ hugely in price.

  5. Thanks for the responses everyone. You know when you’re too shocked to complain? It was one of those times, then I convinced myself it must have been a fair price. I know the Strawberry Tree, the restaurant at the Brooklodge, is all organic, but I don’t think the Waterside Lounge (hotel bar) where I had the wine is organic. A valuable lesson…
