Tesco inserted leaflets with details of their special offers into many of the weekend papers. The leaflet, however, requires both a magnifying glass and a lot of patience to plod through.
The leaflet cover clearly states that the offers are “from 19th August 2010”, but many of the deals – including all those on page 2 of the 16 page guide – have already expired or will do so tomorrow.
You really do need to read the small print carefully before rushing out to pick up the bargains. It would be a lot simpler for Tesco customers if the expiry dates on the specials were made clearer, or if they ran all their special offers until a specific date, like most other supermarkets. Oh, and it would help if they updated their website too.
Never fear, CheapEats is here! Right now at Tesco, you can find:
- Irish lamb gigot chops – reduced by 33% – now €8.35 per kg
- Batchelor’s beans (420g) – 2 for €1 (79c each)
- Donegal Catch Omega 3 fish fingers (280g) and Green Isle skinny cut chips (800g) – buy both for €3 (save €1.28)
The offer expiry dates vary. Most of Tesco’s specials are of the “buy one get one free” or “buy two for €3” variety – not what customers want. Much better offers to be found elsewhere, especially Superquinn.
