Sponsored post: Win a €50 Groupon restaurant voucher

Competition closed

Daily deals websites are changing the way we eat. The concept is simple and there’s no catch: Groupon.ie offers cheap deals on restaurants, hotels, leisure activities, and beauty treatments.

Here’s a selection of recent Groupon deals. They’re quite phenomenal, and would make you feel like a bit of a chump for ever paying full-price again:

  • €110 instead of €370 for a getaway for two in a deluxe room, plus each either a round of golf or back, neck, shoulder, massage at Knightsbrook Hotel (save 70 per cent)
  • €3.20 instead of €8 worth of any burritos, tacos, or quesadillas to have in or take away from Burritos and Blues (save 60 per cent)
  • €25 for a €69 meal for two including mains and sides plus two glasses of Prosecco at Riva Restaurant (save 64 per cent)

The more you spread the word, the more you save: by recommeding Groupon to your friends, you receive €6 credit to spend on the next deal.

Groupon makes use of our collective buying power: the more customers that sign up to buy a particular service, the cheaper it can be delivered. The deals brings a whole new set of customers to retailers, and are emerging as a popular alternative to advertising.

  1. Great prize, hope I win …..

  2. I get the groupon emails daily, I have purchsed many of their offers and I think it is a great idea.

  3. I am going to sign up to get emails it sounds really good

  4. I get the mails everyday, they are great.
also try Sift.ie which groups all offers in one mail

  5. Some great deals and all, but in many cases, what’s on offer is downgraded from whats usually on offer. Watered down cocktails, limited choice menus etc.

Also, there’s no doubt that it can harm unsuspecting restaurants, and other deal sites take a lot less of a slice.

The market is oversaturated, which is not Groupon’s fault, but perhaps they could look at giving better value to restaurants in particular. It’s not so much an issue with service providers.

I probably won’t win for being honest, but hey!

  6. Looks like Ive lost out on some great deals

  7. It’s a great idea. Would like to see more hotel offers for families…

  8. Too many of them but sites such as dealpage.ie make it easier to see all of them at once. Not sure how many facials/massages one person could ever need though! Much prefer the ones for decent food 🙂
