Bargain: €5 stew in The Grand Social

Posted by: peter in: Bargains & Special Offers | Good Value

The Grand Social, one of the best pubs in Dublin, serves delicious big soup cups of Irish stew, packed with meat and veg and full of flavour and heartiness, with two slices of buttered McCambridge’s bread, for just €5.

For €8, you can have stew and a pint of your choice. It’s served all day long, or until the stew runs out – last night I ate it at around 10 o’clock.

To further sweeten the deal, the stew is cooked in The (fabulous) Winding Stair restaurant – the two premises have the same owner – but you’re paying a lot less in the pub. Great value indeed.

The only kicker is that the place is not open for lunch during the week as opening times are 8pm on mondays and 4pm Tuesday to Friday.

  • jean: Yeah I agree, but if you're a teetotaller the €8.50 option is good to have.
  • Liam: better deal with the wine (assuming you consider the wine to be worth more than a fiver, which it probably is).
