When there’s enough meat… And happy Christmas

Posted by: peter in: CheapEats News | Recipes | Vegetarian

According to Conor Pope, people consume around 5,000 calories on Christmas day alone. Tis the season to be a glutton.

We’ll tire of ham and all meat around December 27th, at which point I’ll turn to the comforting and delicious of vegetarian foods. The puy lentil is the king of the veggie food (granted, if not cooked properly, it won’t help with the bloating). Puy lentil and tomato soup is both heartwarming and healthy, while the Puy lentil and vegetable cottage pie may also make an appearance. I’m also a big fan of Rebecca’s Italian vegetable bake. Or stay seasonal with Celeriac, squash, and walnut-thyme gratin.

Thanks to all our readers and everyone who has supported us through the year. A special thanks to Rebecca and Julie, who joined the site as writers this year and whose posts are always a delight.

A very merry Christmas and wonderful 2013 to everyone.
