Specials at Aldi

Posted by: peter in: Bargains & Special Offers

AldiA new month, and a new Super6 at Aldi, and it’s 30 cents more expensive than it was last month. For 79c this time, you can pick up a punnet of plums, peaches, clementines, nectarines, or tomatoes, or a tray of asparagus. Perhaps some of these fruits are more expensive than some of last month’s selection (courgettes, pears, apples, iceberg lettuce, mushrooms), but tomatoes were in both month’s offers, so why the 30c rise? Hmmm…

As well as the Super6, there’s the usual special buys. This Thursday, they include:

  • Tea Towels – €3.99 each
  • Wholewheat Pasta – 99c
  • 28cm Professional Style Frying Pan – €16.99

Next Sunday‘s specials include:

  • Sunglasses – €3.99 per pair
  • Foot Scrub/ Balm – €4.49
  • Outdoor Glasses Set – €7.99 per pack

I loved their 49 cent offer last month – the produce was top notch. I have been living off courgettes and mushrooms – they go in every meal. I’m a bit disappointed that 1, the price has gone up and 2, there isn’t more vegetables included. I assume the difference in the tomatoes is that they are still on the vine. So I guess I’ll be eating aspargus for the next wee while – smelly wee indeed hee hee.

I can’t believe we’re complaining about a 30c price rise. 79c for a punnet of nectarines or a tray of asparagus is an astonishingly good price. And the Alid Super6 changes price all the time, with the selection that’s on offer.

And it was 69c in May and 49c in April. Still great value for any of them, and it gets people into the stores. I’d have liked a greater range on offer (is anyone really going to buy peaches, plums AND nectarines??) and some more vegetables… but I’ll allow ‘em an off-month!
