Steak, Chips, Onion Rings

Posted by: peter in: Food Blogs & Websites | Main Meals | Recipes | Side Dishes

aldi-steakI limit my meat consumption for financial and environmental reasons, but I can’t resist Aldi’s Specially Selected steaks, which I first tried earlier this year.

Last week, I treated myself: steak with pepper sauce and home-made chips and onion rings. The rib-eye steak is more than enough for two big pigs. It’s only €11.99 and it’s phenomenally tasty. One of my favourite bloggers, Bock the Robber, has a very easy pepper sauce recipe on his site, and it worked a treat.

To make onion rings, just peel some onions, slice them in rings about 5mm thick and seperate the rings. Marinade in oil and lemon juice for 30 minutes, then season with salt, dip in flour and fry in very hot oil, or a deep fat fryer if you have one. The oil must be bubbling and splashing: I’d advise you to let it heat for at least five minutes. Drain them on kitchen paper.

Don’t forget the home made chips!
