Superquinn launches new ethnic range

I’ve always been a big fan of ethnic food shops, and we’ve reviewed many of them here. The Asia Market on Drury Street is perhaps the best known, and there’s many more dotted around Dublin and in some of Ireland’s towns and cities.

But outside the capital city, pickings are slim. If you’re planning an Asian dinner, it can be hard to create much beyond curries and soy based dishes.

Superquinn has just expanded its ethnic range, and it’s fair to say that it now boasts the most extensive ethnic range of any supermarket. I was astonished to find dashi, a Japanese fish stock that I’d previously only come across in the Asia Market. There’s tofu, sushi rice, corn starch, a huge range of sauces and pastes, seaweed sheets, pickled ginger and pretty much everything you’d need to make any Asian meal.

This will bring a bit more choice to my dinner menu. Much as I love the Asian shops, they can be a bit of a trek.  I suspect they may still be cheaper than Superquinn but I haven’t had time to do a price comparison as yet, so I’d be grateful if our readers can provide any insights.

You can check out Superquinn’s latest special offers here.
