GreenCrossParcel.ie

Posted by: jean in: Charity | Food Blogs & Websites

The creators of GreenCrossParcel.ie, a new online shop that allows you to send classic Irish products to friends overseas, got in touch recently to ask us to help spread the word about their site.  There are a lot of online food shops  out there but this service is a little different – they are donating profits from the business to a number of Irish charities, including one that helps Irish people living abroad.

The site sells such classic Irish treats as Barry’s or Lyon’s Tea, Tayto, Dairy Milk and Custard Creams – bog standard items in Ireland that assume an irresistible mystique when  you move away.  There are care packages for €24 and they are also selling other Irish-abroad essentials such as GAA jerseys.  When you buy, you can choose to donate to the Simon Community, Headstrong, Age Action Ireland or the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation; and more Irish charities, including Barnardos, will be added shortly.

What do you think? Would you use a service like this to send a big bag of Taytos to your hungry cousin in Perth?

What a brilliant idea! Now I know what to do for upcoming birthdays of my pals in Oz.

Nice site but I’d like to see a bit more info about the charitable donations – what percentage is going to charity?

  • Liam: better deal with the wine (assuming you consider the wine to be worth more than a fiver, which it probably is).
