I’ll shop anywhere except Tes*o. I usually do a huge shop once a month, supplemented with meat and other perishables during the week. I decide on where to go depending on what I need and whats on offer on the supermarkets websites. To be honest, I wouldn’t trust a website for prices. Pumps . ie claims to be a fuel price website but its never updated or accurate.
For me it’s not only about the price but about quality to price ratio. And in this aspect you can’t beat Aldi. Their foods are gorgeous and very much to our continental taste and the price… Well we’ve been shopping there for almost two years now and the bill always surprises us in a good way.
Agree with Marta – it’s the price to quality ratio. The Lidl/Aldi products are good quality at a good price. The main stream stores sacrifice quality for price (a false economy). Also, the mainstreamers rely on discounting, BOGOF and other promotions that never last. The consumer is aware of these cons. The Aldi/Lidl approach has meant we have broken out ties with branded goods – that is the long term issue for the main brands. Also, any time you visit a UK version of an Irish store you realise that they pull your pants down every time you walk in the door of the Irish store!
PS I would shop anywhere, regardless of the price, that helped me pack my bags. Again, I was red faced and furiously packing bags at the checkout in Dunnes while a q formed at the register and not one staff member helped me. I felt like asking for my €150 back and shopping in Marks where they will bag and deliver your groceries to the car. I think I will next time!
Very funny! 😀 I dont pay until I get everything packed away either, incase something is broken or leaking. I do care about people waiting, but its not my fault, its the supermarkets, or my lazy bummed husband who will not come grocery shopping with me.
