Food takes centre stage at Culture Night

web banner 492 x 207.inddCulture Night is one of Dublin’s best annual events, with museums, galleries, and cultural attractions open late and free of charge. Last year’s night was brilliant: the city was buzzing, we saw some sights that normally go unnoticed, and it was an excellent alternative to the usual option of Friday night pints.

Culture Night is taking place again this coming Friday night, with events in Dublin, Limerick, Galway city and county, Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, Westmeath, Letterkenny, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Mayo, and the Gaeltacht regions.

This year, food will take centre stage. In last Saturday’s Irish Times, restaurant critic Catherine Cleary wrote an indispensable guide to the best food Friday will offer. The Silk Road Cafe at the Chester Beatty library – one of my favourite cheap eats in Dublin – will stay open until 9.30pm, while some tempting food stalls, serving everything from BBQs to plates of paellas, will be dotted around the city.

If you’re planning on venturing out this Friday night, Cleary’s article is well worth a look. Check it out here.
