Prices are continuing to fall at Lidl. I did some shopping there yesterday and picked up a litre of Copella Apple Juice for €2.29, and a bottle of Spanish Montecello red wine for €5.49 – a steal. I also noticed that Lidl are selling those dinghies for €599.99, and felt a pang of guilt at letting it sit in my shed for the past year. Anyway, you can check out a more detailed list of long-term price reductions in Lidl here.
They’re also going Gallic with some French connections. Some of it – such as the ready-made Croque Monsieurs and the tinned Gratin Dauphinose – look vile. But some looks great, while I can vouch for the Crottins de Chevre (goat’s cheese):
- Mini Aperitifs – €4.99
- Crottins de Chevre (soft goat’s milk cheese) – €2.49
Meanwhile, specials from Thursday May 28 include:
- Disposable Barbecue – €1.99
- Men’s Hoodie – €8.99
- Pendulum Wall Clocks – €12.99
Specials from Monday June 1 include:
- Beach Chair – €24.99
- Sunglasses – €2.99
- Ladies Polo Shirt – €6.99

Ugh. Just drank some of the wine. No, I don’t normally (or ever!) drink in the mornings, but this was for research purposes… In fairness, not sure what I was expecting for €5.49, but it really was very vinegary plonk. I’ll keep some for cooking as per this very good tip from our reader Joanne:

I did, however, have a very decent wine from Aldi at the weekend. We’ll do a post about wines in Lidl and Aldi at some stage over the next few weeks or months.
