A few more days till Aldi’s latest fantastic Super6 offer expires. Much as I love Aldi, it’s hard to justify a car journey when I’m only a two- minute walk away from Lidl. But when I’m passing Aldi, I do be poppin’ in for some of their Specially Selected range: by God, those steaks are something special.
From steaks to sweets. Thursday’s special buys include:
- Vanilla or Coconut Oat Cookies – €1.29 each
- Specially Selected Waffle Crisps – €1.75 per pack
- Luxury Soft Nougat – €1.79
As you can tell, I woke up with a sweet tooth. Ever since I devoured my sister Barbara’s incredible, amazing, moist and juicy lemon mousse sponge cake, I’ve decided that only sugar is worth eating. She’s the best cook and baker I know, so I’m planning on hounding her, through the pages of CheapEats, until she gives up her secure, steady job and becomes a full-time baker. Join me as I torment her over the next few weeks.
Riiiight… Anyway, said the tumbleweed, Sunday’s special buys at Aldi are a bit more practical than a glucose overdose. They include:
- Rollerball pens (biros? Down with biros) – €1.99 per pack
- Balsam Pocket Pack Tissues (disposable swine flu) – €1.99
- Printer Cartridges – €5.99
€5.99 for a printer cartridge – compatible with most models – is pretty damn decent. It’s no bag of nougat, but it’ll do.

Peter,
I’m drooling at the description of your sister’s fab cake. Any chance she’d share the recipe with us all? Gooey lemon sponge sounds like it could cure almost any ailment!

Are the blenders in Aldi any good?
