Milano, the Irish arm of the UK chain Pizza Express, has recently launched a new menu which was created by celebrity chef Francesco Mazzei.  Mazzei runs the Italian restaurant L’Anima in London, and has created 11 dishes for Milano.  Milano very kindly invited us along to try them out, and treated us to a very [...]

The ultimate cheap eat, an amazing comfort food, and a standard dish in every person’s gastro repertoire, Spaghetti Bolognese is made in a variety of ways depending on your own taste. It is so commonly eaten in Ireland that I have heard some people refer to it as Spag-Bol. Yuk! What a horrible name: Peter’s [...]

I was completely hooked to ‘Masterchef’ when it was on BBC and it kind of controlled my life for a while, as sad as that sounds. Due to unstoppable snacking, I had to arrange my dinner around the show and make sure I would either be eating while it was on or have dinner afterwards. [...]

Review: Campo di Fiore, Bray

Posted by: peter in: Restaurants | Reviews

Pop your head into Campo di Fiore, and you’ll step back in time to 2007. Here’s a restaurant that’s full every night, and yet its prices are relatively high. I took my sister Cathy there for her birthday a few weeks ago, and my then-pregnant other sister joined us too (she’s since given birth to [...]

This week, Milano very kindly invited us to try out a new menu item that they are currently promoting: the Leggera Pizza, an interesting new low-fat pizza and salad combination.  I brought my friend and hero Geordie Sue along to try it out.  I was in the throes of a manky cold, and Sue was [...]
