  1. Congrats on your 100th post. Have only recently started reading this blog, after it was recommended by PriceWatch, but it’s great! I really like the recipes and the Good Value / Bad Value posts. Keep up the good work!

  2. Yay for 100, well done! I love seeing your reviews, I always feel a bit guilty eating out when the world seems to be crumbling down around us with complaints of recession so its nice to know where is good but cheap to eat. Recipes are always great too!

It would be great if you could post full posts through your feedburner! This is the way I read most blogs and means that I can have a look at work without having to have a very colourful page up!

  3. i think its a great site – i love the analysis of the supermarket deals. what i would love to see is more day-to-day recipes…stuff you can rustle up on a Wednesday night. we all have cookbooks for recipes when you have time at weekends but i would love to look in the fridge and be able say i saw a recipe for using this on cheapeats.ie

  4. Saw the site advertised on Midday today. Great idea in these RECESSIONARY times. Who else is sick of hearing that? But seriously great idea. Love the cheap restaurant offers. We still need to go out and enjoy ourselves just tighten the pursestrings a wee bit. Thanks guys ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Congrats. I love the giveaways, wish there were more. I am very happy to see you on board with Fair Trade products. More info on how the average consumer can help this effort by posting more Fair Trade products and reviews would be terrific.

  6. Excellent site, love the recipes but I would like to see more on entries on interesting things to do with truffles and caviar. You know, stuff just lying around the east wing.

  7. Hi, You guys are my kind of people, looking for great value but still trying to shop and eat ethically and sustainably. I always try to buy free range, Irish products, less packaging etc. But doing this on my budget isn’t always easy. This site is now the first I open in the morning. Thanks a million!!!

  8. You know, I’ve never been tempted by the idea of handmade chocolates. I mean, what kind of person is at the end of those hands? Give me a nice sterile conveyor belt any day.

I do love this site though.

  9. great idea for a site. As someone who scans the newspaper ads and flyers for the best deals, its very useful to have them all gathered together in the one place. Well done!

  10. just found this site – fab. i’ll be spending a bit of time here. love everything i’ve seen so far

  11. I only discovered CheapEats.ie after the Irish Times mentioned it, and I am loving it…it’s the only blog I’m be interested enough in to check for updates a couple of times a day! I love the Ingredient of the Week, especially seeing as spinach and chorizo are 2 of my faves anyways. Loving the recipes too, planning on trying the Saag Aloo tonight!
As a person who enjoys food shopping – but only when I nab the cheapest, healthiest and best value bargains – this site has been great! One thing I feel could add to the site would be a forum, so users can exchange information easier.

  12. Congrats on no. 100 (already!). Love the site for its variety – posts relevant to buying food, cooking your own, eating out etc. – and the fact that it’s not about cheapness per se, but value.

  13. I agree with Daily Spud (above). The site looks great too, I especially love the wallpaper. There’s a big difference between cheapness and value, somewhere like lโ€™Gueuleton isn’t cheap per se, but brill value because it’s so good, so I totally agree with your reviews. I’m looking forward to using the site … but for now may I just say this: you can make a totally fantastic fish pie by using the Lidl fisherman’s selection (frozen scallops, crayfish, mussels & prawns) and following the Avoca fish pie recipe in book 1. Made it last week and it was so good I nearly wept while eating it.

Congratulations to you on a really great site.

  14. Congratulations on reaching 100!!!!

CheapEats is already a big hit and I can see it growing – in these times consumers are more inclined to “vote with their feet” and it is important to have somewhere that highlights the good and the bad – and as Daily Spud said, not cheapness per se but value! I have found it worthwhile checking out eBay for some items – I bake a great deal for weddings, christenings etc (mainly for friends and family) and have managed to buy things like top quality icing supplies, cookie cutters and colourings for for a much lower price on eBay- I have also bought wonderful smoked paprika and organic whole vanilla pods for a fraction of what I would pay here, even taking into account the postage.

Here’s to the next few hundred posts ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Hi there

I really love your blog and I only discovered it a week ago. I think it gives clear concise and useful information, I also love the colours and design of the pages and its v user friendly.

Keep up the good work, if only we had been so frugal during the past ten years we may not be hitting the recessionary times we are now experiencing !! Then again I did rather enjoy the C.Tiger ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hope I win

  18. Everything on your blog is so organized and neat! It’s not all jumbled together, It’s enjoyable to read! ๐Ÿ™‚

    God bless

  25. Best wishes! Congratulations of reaching your milestone! Thanks for sharing these fun treats!

  26. Just checked out the M & S article and gonna stop by tonight for some yummy chinese treats. Thanks for the info guys! and congrats on the 100th post!

  27. I just found your site, I think it’s fantastic. Long live bargains and letting one another know about them.

  28. Congrats for your 100th post! This is the first time I’m visiting this blog but it’s not going to be the last! I love your recipes.

  29. Chocolate yum! I particularly like the recipes, I’ve tried one or two of them, and it’s very useful that you actually state where the ingredients can be procured!

  30. Ooooooh, chocolates, I’m so in for this one.

I like your reviews of the specials at supermarkets, as I have a choice of where I shop locally it can quite often influence which supermarket I tackle on a weekend.

It might be nice to have a wrap up post on a Friday, showing the best bargains for the week, I know a lot of people do their shopping at the weekend.

In other feedback, I really wish you would offer a full post RSS feed instead of just the first few lines. If I’m busy, I don’t have time to click through to every site, I prefer to use my RSS reader. Instead of generating click-thru’s to your site, you’re probably losing readers instead by not offering the full feed.

  31. Guys, great idea, great sight, lets hope it puts a little more transparency on an industry that has been ripping people off throughout the boom, its our time now!

  32. Congratulations on your 100th post. I came across this site intitally thanks to price watch in Irish Times, and again today thanks to beaut.ie. Its a great idea- recession or no recession.

  33. Happy 100th birthday!! May the next 100 posts be even better ๐Ÿ™‚ Bring em onโ€ฆ..
I think I must be the number 1 fan of your website ever since a friend told me about it recently. I find myself broke every weekend in this bloomin recession so on Mon am, my first task is always to check out the best “cheap eats” – where to go for the best deals/prices/recipes and how I can save โ‚ฌโ‚ฌโ‚ฌ !! Every night last week, I tried one of your recommended dishes and in a hungry house of teenagers, they went down a treatโ€ฆ.will be doing the same this week for sure. My favourite is the weekly roundup which summarizes all the best offers and deals advertised during the week. I have 1 recommendation, I just hope it doesn’t sound too greedy. It would be supercool if you held a few competitions for us fans. Maybe with small little prizes like vouchers or free meals or whatever – what do you think? Just thought it would be even more encouragement for people to get blogging and reviewing and recommending!!
Anyway, I love the site just as it is. Fair play to you all and keep up the good work. Luv Emer XXX

  34. Being a broke and hungry student this site makes my pennies go that little bit further ๐Ÿ™‚ Vive la Rรฉvolution!

  36. Congrats on the 100th post! I just found your site, but I unqiue items featured as I am always looking to try new things.

  38. I’ve only just come across the website quite recently but I think it’s great!I love the breakdown of all the supermarket deals,it’s great to know where to go to get good deal at the beginning of the week! The site is easy to navigate, with the sections easily laid out and some great other blogs on the blog roll.

The recipe section is great too, though maybe a section of recipes on using leftovers or cooking something once in large portions and freezing the extra portions(for all us students out there!)

I’ve recommended this site to a few people already and they’ve all loved it too!

  39. Congrats on post 100!! Keep it, and the chocolates, coming…

  40. Well done on the 100th post!!

    Congrats on your 100th post!

  42. Congrats guys ๐Ÿ™‚ A recent enough follower of the blog but love it so far ๐Ÿ™‚
I agree with the above comment about a forum – this would be fantastic, simple way for readers to swap their own experiences/recipies/etc….
    Keep up the good work!

  43. Long time lurker, first time poster.
Well done on your 100th post!
I love reading about all the supermarket deals and offers, this is the first place I come to when I’m making out my shopping list.
Love your blog. Keep up the good work!

  44. Happy 100’s B-day! i only found this website yesterday as i was browsing internet for meal deals and am delighted with it. I have already told all my friends about it, and we are all already going to Bar and Grill restaurant for launch. Great work -very easy to navigate around and we LOVE the deals!

  45. Hello. Congratulations, brilliant website! Just what we need in a current market situation: a good advice on where and how to save money. Thanks a lot guys.

  46. Chocolates….mmmm… ๐Ÿ™‚ Guys can you take out Hi-Life dinning club card – you could get their card with Buy and Fly for points, but Buy and Fly is gone now. May be you could do something like this – its a great deal for those who love dinning out

  47. Hey cool site. I love the idea of somewhere to grass up the supermarkets’ sneaky price increases. Only two spring to mind – Yoplait Frubes and St Dalfour jam – right now, but I shall be more eagle eyed and snitchy now that I have somewhere to post. Thanks

  48. Brilliant – only just discovered the site. has everything!

  49. I like chocolate. Cheapeats.ie is great! My suggestion for a post, is one all about me winning a box of chocolates.

  50. Loving the site, guys, and well done on the success. My suggestions would be some posts on feeding kids – small bites, treats, suppers that they’ll eat but still are healthy and cheap.

And also, I thought it might be nice to have the odd special around a particular location – for example review all the eateries in one village, or all the shops – you could start with Blackrock, I ‘d be happy to help out ๐Ÿ™‚
