Tesco are trumpeting “long-term” price cuts on Irish meat and poultry, including:
- Market Value Whole Chicken 1.45kg – reduced from €5.06 to €3.61
- Lamb Loin Chops 6 pack – reduced from €11.39 to €9.53
- Healthy Living Steak Mince 500g – reduced from €6.88 to €3.65
Maybe the cows are massaged by sylphs, and the mince comes from fillet steaks, but why was 500g of minced beef costing €6.88 at all? In any case, Tesco’s meat isn’t for me; I’ve always found it profoundly disappointing.

I have to agree about tesco meat. I have pretty much given up buying it. The number of times I have bought steak that turned out like the sole of my shoe has put me right off!
Haven’t had a single problem since I started buying steaks from proper butchers.
