I met a friend for lunch in the Flux Cafe in Dublin’s Science Gallery on Friday, and I think it’ll become a regular spot for lunchtimes for me. It’s a lovely space, bright, airy and well laid-out. The menu serves a range of Italian cuisine, including:
- Antipasti for around €10-€11
- Foccacia and ciabatta sandwiches for around €7
- Pasta dishes for around €10
We both had a ‘Tramezzino’ sandwich for €7.30: for the price you get a toastie and a large cup of minestrone soup. My Italian ham and asagio cheese sandwich was really tasty, and the minestrone was better quality than you usually get in Ireland (though could still have done with a bit more seasoning).
The Flux Cafe is open till 8pm on Fridays, and has a special deal where you get to sample food from their aperitivo buffet when you buy an alcholic drink. It could be a lovely way to start a Friday evening, I’ll definitely check it out as soon as I can.
The Science Gallery is well worth a look as well, for innovative and interesting exhibitions.

Also if you are a science gallery memeber (which is free you can sign up on their website) you get a 10% reduction on all things bought at the cafe!
