Lessons on cheap eating at the Harvest Feast

The Harvest Feast food festival runs from the 11th to the 13th of September, and takes place in Drumshambo, Co Leitrim.  The festival’s website says that this year’s focus is on cost-saving.  There are a number of free events and a free demonstration that might be of interest to Cheap Eats readers – a demonstration on how to cut down on food waste and save money.

Friday Sept 11th, 1130am – 1pm

Save 30% on Food Bills  by reducing food waste  – Free
Demonstration on Meal Planning.
Increase recipe lists for healthy eating by Sian Breslin from “Donegal Manor Cookery School”

There’s also farm walks, eco walks and talks on cooking and gardening.  Has anyone been to the Harvest Feast in the past, and would you recommend it?

  1. i went last year and really enjoyed it. I think the saving 30% on food bills talk and demo is apt, because ppl tend to waste about that amount of the food they buy in any case.

(Maybe the recession has reduced this, but that’s what the stats were saying last year anyway. I’ve a posting about food waste on my blog: also see love food hate waste website)

Neven McGuire demo for a tenner is good value too, as is offloading the kids for a cookery day (well worth a tenner I’d say!)

But the organic farm biodiversity walks are more my thing

  2. this festival is really growing, meet friendly farmers & producers who really value good enviroment and food
