Are supermarket offers really all they’ve cracked up to be? Tonight, BBC’s Panaroma programme runs an episode entitled “The Truth About Supermarket Price Wars”, highlighting:
- How some packed fruit and veg are cheaper when bought loose
- How some products sold as deals are the same price as always
- How supermarkets raise their prices for a few months, drop them, and then run a big marketing campaign around “price drops.”
Thanks to our reader Katia for the tip-off.
So, with those caveats in mind, here’s our regular round-up of the supermarket deals:
Special offers at Aldi
Special offers at Lidl
Special offers at SuperValu
Special offers at Dunnes
Special offers at Tesco
Special offers at Centra
Special offers at Londis
Special offers at Mace
Special offers at Spar
Readers, have you ever been mislead by special offers?

The programme last night was great. Goes to show how it takes advantage of people who are busy or in a rush.
I have often spotted misleading offers myself (when I take the time to actually work it out in my head). The marketing can be so clever though.
