Watch CheapEats on Ireland:AM

logoThanks very much to TV3’s Ireland: AM crew for having me on this morning. You can watch a clip of the show here.

It was lovely to meet Alice Cope Hogan, who recently opened The Mad Hatter Cafe in Castledermot, southeast Co. Kildare, and Kay Weldon, who runs Miss Katy’s Tea Rooms in Blarney, Co. Cork.

Alice’s food looks delicious and I’ll certainly check it out next time I’m heading down the M9. Castledermot had been crying out for a cafe for some time and, after chatting to Alice for a few minutes, it was clear she has a genuine passion for food: she cooks and bakes all the produce herself and spent months choosing just the right coffee for her shop.

Kay bribed us all to say nice things by giving us a big bunch of cupcakes and it certainly did the trick. I had one of her delicious Carrot Cupcakes and I want more. Now please. These were moist, juicy, fresh,  beautiful, and big. Big enough to fill you up. When you consider that the average dessert can cost anywhere from €4-6, the €2.50 price tag on these delectable cakes are worth every cent.

I enjoyed being on the show and would like to thank all our readers who’ve been so helpful and supportive over the last few months. Have a great weekend!
